My affinity for hot peppers started when I was just a child. I would spend the long days of summer with my Grandpa. By the time I got to his house at 7:00 am, he had already been in the greenhouse attending to his plants for at least two hours. He taught me to sew the seeds, pull the weeds, and understand how much water was needed just by touching the dirt. A couple years later when he was going through chemo and battling cancer the only food he could eat was fried hot pepper sandwiches. It took me a bit to get used to the burn, but once I did there was no going back. The memory of Grandpa Pete, the garden, and hot peppers forever changed my life. As I create the unique sauces I make, the smell of the peppers and the burn in the air takes me back to a much simpler time at 7:00am playing in the dirt and pulling weeds.
